AW16 Photoshoot - Behind the scenes

Last week we had the first part of our AW16 photoshoot in an enchanted wood and lodge deep in the countryside. A log burner kept us warm and fueled with toasted marshmallows and our model helped grind fresh coffee for our giant kettle!

A few exciting changes for AW16

We're really excited to be launching the new AW16 collection in just a few weeks. As a company we're always looking for ways to give our customers something special and to work in the most ethical way we can. We also have far more ideas than we can possibly fit into one collection. So, with all this in mind we have decided to do things a bit differently for our latest collection...

AW16 FABRICS

When we first started we produced most of our collection here in the UK, then we found a fantastic childrenswear factory in Portugal who have been producing our collection for the past few seasons, this made perfect sense for us as many of our fabrics and trims were also sourced in Europe. However, we have been looking hard to find partners in the UK that we can work with going forward as we would love to be able to make at least part of our collection here, especially as our own prints are all produced in the UK.

AYLA TOP IN PROGRESS IN THE NEW STUDIO

We're now really excited to be able to share that we are producing part of the AW16 collection here in the UK. These pieces will be handmade in our own studio in very small numbers, sometimes only 2 or 3 pieces per size, but that means they will be extra special and we can keep adding to the collection as we go along, we already have some exciting Christmas development in the pipeline! We also hope that we will be able to share even more of our original prints and designs with you.

We are continuing to produce our lovely knitwear with our existing supplier, we think the quality is second to none, and a few of our existing styles are still being made in Portugal so look out for  MADE IN THE UK in our online shop if you want to buy something truly handmade and homegrown!

As spring/summer draws to a close, (at least in fashion terms!) we thought we would share some of the lovely press we've had this season.

It's always great to see our collection styled and modeled by other people, it inspires us so much. Below are just a few of the pieces featuring out SS16 collection. We've just made our final sale markdowns so pop over to the website if this has inspired you too!

Polona at Baby Jungle has a gorgeous girl, toddler boy and a new baby, all kitted out in Poppy & Hester! She wrote this fantastic blogpost earlier in the summer and is a big fan of our knitwear!

The photos of our Spring/Summer collection by Liesbet at the M Word Mag in Belgium were just amazing! Her styling is so sweet and who can resist a toddler in sunglasses? She also featured us last season and always gives the best fashion tips for kids.

Country Living Spring Fair

We are so excited about our spring collection and can't wait to share it with you! We have some lovely new Poppy & Hester prints, gorgeous cotton knitwear and what we think is the perfect sundress!

We are also pleased to share that we will be exhibiting in the 'newcomers market' at the Country Living Spring Fair in March. It's our first fair of the spring and it's a big one, in London's Business Design Centre in Islington from the 16th-20th March.

Five festive styling tips

Here are our top styling tips for girls for the festive season!

#1 Party party party dresses
Of course this has to be number one! You can't survive the party season without a brilliant dress. Our Freya dress is designed to be dressed up all down so add a few festive accessories (see below) & your party shoes and dance! 

 

#2 Fantastic accessories
The festive season is a great opportunity to have fun with accessories, colourful tights, beautiful hair accessories & perfect hats, scarves and gloves.

We have a lovely range of co-ordinating grosgrain hair accessories available online and our Coco scarves complete any outfit perfectly and can be tied at the front, or the back for younger children.

#3 A great pair of boots
Wellies are a must-have but we also think a great pair of smart boots are essential for Winter dressing. Here are a couple of our favourites...

The size is perfect for swaddling newborns or for the Moses basket and is the width of most standard cots. Lovely and warm but lightweight and not too large it’s also a great size for prams or pushchairs and perfect for Christmas holidays and winter car journeys.
